Cruise-Travel-Vacations: It's Time For A Summertime Cruise

Long or short cruises are available with destinations to just about everywhere. The Cunard Fleet offers cruises on the Queen Elizabeth 2 leaving from New York and cruising around the world in 96 days. The traveler visits Cozumel, Cartagena, Acapulco, Los Angeles, Australia, Hong Kong, Naples, Lisbon and then back to Southampton to port. Imagine, a little over three months of great food, nightly entertainment and exotic locations on a daily basis. The possibilities are practically limitless.

For those who don't have the time to go cruising that long, there are the 11-day cruises, the seven-day cruises and the mini, three-day cruises.

Cunard Fleet offers three to 100 day cruises depending on where you depart port. Carnival is known for quick jaunts in the Caribbean leaving from Miami or Los Angeles. The traveler can enjoy a quick trip to the Bahamas or Baja Mexico and be back in time for work the following week.

Cruises mean entertainment, food and fun 24-hours a day. On one recent cruise I was on, the food was so abundant I felt obligated to eat it. There was the 24-hour pizzeria, and that was just for those times when I wasn't eating a formal breakfast, lunch or dinner. Cruise-Travel-Vacations: Rome and Civitacecchia - Mediterranean Ports of Call

Unforgettable and Eternal City Rome is a marvelous city, and deserves a visit of several days, weeks, or even months. Those of us who love cruising are lucky to get a few days in Rome, either as a port of call or as a pre-cruise or post-cruise extension. Rome is not actually on the Mediterranean Sea.

It is located on the Tiber River, and the Tiber is WAY too small for cruise ships to sail on. Ancient legends report that Rome was founded on the seven hills flanking the Tiber by the two brothers Romulus and Remus. Cruise ships port at Civitavecchia, and passengers are transported the one hour ride into the city by bus.

Visiting Rome by cruise ship is much like visiting Florence--it's not that easy to get from the sea to the city, but it's well worth the trip. I've only been to Rome twice, the last time in April 2000 for the Jubilee Year.
